ISLAMABAD: Professor Dr. Gholam Mujtaba, a senior leader of the Republican Party of the United States met with President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazl ur Rahman, a senior politician of Pakistan who is currently a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and also Chairman of the Kashmir Committee, says a press release issued here on Sunday.
Dr. Gholam Mujtaba discussed matters related to eliminating terrorism, particularly in Fata and tribal areas that borders Afghanistan, and the chaos in held Kashmir. “There is a need to address U.S. concerns in all seriousness above political rhetoric by Pakistani politiciansâ€, said Dr. Mujtaba.
“Maulana Fazalur Rahman is in a position to help bring peace in the region, and the meeting will result in positive outcome by engaging all the stake-holders and crushing terrorist networks. There is a communication gap between leadership like Maulana, the regional and international stake-holders, and the same has been maintained purposely by forces inimical to Pakistan which has resulted in policy shift by the Pakistani oligarchy. It was well crafted by the foes of Pakistan and the United States to dismantle the ever growing relationship between both the nations. I will do my best to salvage the situation in the larger interest of Pakistan and the United Statesâ€, Dr. Gholam Mujtaba added.
Maulana Rehman was Leader of the Opposition from 2004 to 2007 during which time he was the Secretary General of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). Maulana Fazlur Rehman rose to national prominence in 1988 and was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in 1988. His party remained coalition partner of the Federal Governments during first and second Premiership of Benazir, as well as of the governments of Yusuf Raza Gilani and Nawaz Sharif.
