MIRPUR (AJK): One person was killed and four others belonging to the same family injured, when the roof-top of a house collapsed following heavy rainfall in Mirpur city of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Thursday morning, police said.
The residential house of a local Raja Muhammad Rasheed caved in housing sector F/4 here at the wee hours of Thursday when entire city lashed with heavy downpour and thunder storm leaving his 13-year-old son Amaan Shabir dead on the spot and injured four other keepers of the ill fated house, In charge Thothal Police station told this Correspondent here Thursday.
Preliminary reports speak of the occurrence of the tragic house collapse mishap primarily because of the land sliding of a hill adjacent to the house soon after the terrible rainfall, according to the police officer. The injured included head of the family Raja Muhammad Shabir, his wife Roheela Begam and two sons including Usmaan and Noumaan, who were later rushed to the local District Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger, the police officer said.
Mirpur and adjoining areas of the district are in the grip of intermittent torrential rains since past many days causing flooding of the seasonal nullahs and lakes and affecting of the buildings in this semi-hilly district.
