Islamabad : Hundreds of Pakistani migrants are returning empty handed from Saudi Arabia. Due to fiscal difficulties the number of migrants is alarmingly decreasing which will have a negative impact on the country economy.
According to sources the number of migrants in 2017 was 17 per cent as compared to 2016. During the current year from January to June 77600 migrants travelled to Saudi Arabia whereas the figure was more than 4,62000 in 2016. Saudi Arabia’s intervention in other countries and decreasing oil prices have added to the financial problems of the conservative country. Yemen war has contributed many fold towards these problems. Saudi Arabian economy largely depends on new taxes which not only affected the migrant workers but squarely impacted on small businesses of Pakistanis in the kingdom. This scenario will also affect Pakistan foreign exchange reserves.
