Islamabad : The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)’s officials are trying to cover up investigation of financial embezzlement worth Rs 3 billion.
The LESCO, distributor company of Ministry of Water and Power Kasur region has sent surplus electricity bill worth Rs 3 billion to owners of tube well and collected to show its outstanding performance and hide the power pilfering in the region.
This financial embezzlement has badly affected the dozens of poor farmers of the region who paid these bills.
The top officials when came to know about this embezzlement had ordered to probe the matter at high level especially Secretary Water and Power took personal interest in this investigation.
In preliminary investigation, it was witnessed that power pilfering in Kasur region is common and officials of the region are allegedly involved in it.
The LESCO officials when take notice of low income of the region as the concerned X-en and SDOs has sent heavy bills to owners of tube wells.
The farmers of the region have protested over it and the SDO of Kasur region has disconnected their power connection for non-payment of bills.
Secretary Water & Power Younas Dhaka ordered to probe the matter, in the meanwhile, he was transferred.
Now LESCO officials are busy in protecting their colleagues. Over 40 local SDOs were allegedly involve this financial embezzlement.
The parliamentary committee while taking notice of this corruption has sought report of this embezzlement next week.
Online when contacted with LESCO officials they were not willing to give their stance in this regard.
