Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) bench has recused from hearing appeal pleas filed by terrorists against the death sentence awarded by military courts.
SHC bench presided over by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto Thursday took up for hearing the appeal pleas filed by terrorists who were convicted and sentenced to death by military courts in Safora tragedy and on other charges .
During the course of hearing, petitioner took the plea that military courts have awarded death sentence to the petitioners on different charges . The family members of these death convicts are not being informed about the details of their cases.
The petitioner prayed that meeting of their family members with the convicts be allowed and implementation of sentence be stayed. They should be given a chance to file appeal pleas in the light of SC decisions.
SHC bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulporo while recusing itself from hearing the appeal pleas sent the case to chief justice of SHC seeking constitution of new bench to hear the appeals.
It is vital to mention here that terrorist, Saad Aziz, Tahir Minhas, Azhar Ishrat, Hafiz Nasir and Asad ur Rehman were awarded death sentence by military courts.
