    LG & RD approve development projects worth 2 billion

    Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) AJ&K Department of Local Government & Rural Development on Wednesday has accorded approval of the developmental projects of worth 2 billions rupees to provide basic facilities to the people of State.

    Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Local Government Coordination Council, which was chaired by AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan here on Wednesday. According to details a hefty amount of two billion rupees would be spent on construction of link roads, bridges, streets, provision of clean drinking water, construction of washrooms in schools, installation of solar lights in cities and other projects proposed by members Legislative Assembly in their constituencies.

    While addressing the meeting the Prime Minister directed the secretary education to conduct a comprehensive survey in all public and private sector schools on provision of basic facilities being available to the students. He said that if private sector schools failed to provide services to the students then these institutions must be shutdown. While in public sector the PM said that a comprehensive report should be submitted along with PC1 so that all basic facilities may be provided in these institutions.

    He praised the performance of the AJK Local Government Development and congratulated the Secretary and Director General of the Department. He said that Prime Minister Community Infrastructure Development Program (PMCIDP) would be continued so that people of the State could be provided with basic facilities. He said the government has adopted a policy whereby provision of equal facilities should be provided to the people of urban and rural areas.

    “To provide the equal facilities to the people of rural areas a strategy has been planned and this policy would be implemented through department of Local Government and others”, he added.
    Earlier the secretary Local Government Dr.Mahmood ul Hasan briefed the Prime Minister on implementation of PMCIDP. Minister for Planning and Development Dr Najeeb Naqi, additional secretary development Syed Asif Shah, Secretary Local Government Dr.Mahmood ul Hassan and other officers attended the meeting.
