Quetta: (Parliament Times) Independence Day celebrations are in full swing in Balochistan and people are participating with full zeal and enthusiasm. In this connection events were played in 71st Independence Day Sports Festival.
In men’s events final matches and closing ceremony of boxing were conducted today at Pakistan Sports Board Hall, Ayub Stadium. A total of 3 fights were played. In category of 52 kg Mr Noor Ali (BSB) won his fight. In 56 kg Mr Abdul Samad (BSB) and in 60 kg Mr Mohibullah (Quetta) were the winners. Mr Mehboob Ahmed Shahwani was the chief guest at the occasion.
In men Athletics events 3000m men final was won by Mr Anil from Quetta. Whereas 100m men final was won by Mr Attaullah from Zhob. 400m rally race was won by Quetta city. Quetta City were declared overall winners of Athletics events. Mr Tahir Mehmood Khan was Chief Guest at the occasion. In Hockey final was played at Ayub Sports Complex between Bolan Kings and Chiltan Sarawan which Bolan Kings won by 3-2. Dr Shakeel Roshan, President Alhamd Islamic University graced the occasion as chief guest, whereas former international player Mr Zulfiqar Ahmed was present as Guest of Honour.
Badminton finals were played at Magsi Hall Ayub Sports Complex. Badminton final in Single Individual catagory was playee between Faraz Ahmed and Zain Lodhi. Which was won by Faraz. Mr Munawar Hussain, Director Sports Board Balochstan was the chief guest at the occasion. While in women events. Final of Inter College volley ball tournament was played at Govt Girls Degree College Quetta Cantt in which Govt Girls College Quarry Road beaten the host team. In Throw ball finals Town Girls College beaten Shaldara Girls College.
Final match of womem cricket was played at Shola Ground. Match was played between Jinnah Town Girls College and Brewery Road Girls College. Brewary Road Girls College has comfortably won the match. Chief guest member of National Women Cricket Team gave away prizes.
And Finals of Women Athletics were played at Musa Sports Complex. Ms Razia from Brewery Road Girls College won first prize in Shot Put, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw. Whereas in 100x400m rally race Brewery Road College stood first. Brewery Road Girls College secured overall Winner Trophy.
