ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rallied on Sunday in Parade Ground of the federal capital to mark Youm-e-Tashakur over Nawaz Sharif s ouster.
Leaders of the opposition party including candidate for NA-120 elections Yasmin Rashid, secretary general Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Pervez Khattak, Asad Umer, Arif Alvi among others are in attendance. Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Pervaiz Rashid, who was a petitioner for Nawaz Sharif s disqualification is also taking part in PTI celebrations.
Islamabad district administration had earlier granted permission to PTI on Saurday to hold a public gathering in Parade Ground.
By late night Saturday and into wee hours of Sunday, a stage was set for PTI representatives and the Imran Khan to address the participants and over 35,000 chairs were placed.
Security arrangements at the rally are being ensured by federal police and FC officials.
Khan, Prevaiz Khattak and other party leaders visited the ground and reviewed the arrangements yesterday. Pervez Rashid, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Imran Khan are to deliver addresses to the rally participants.
It was reported earlier today that groups of PTI supporters from across the country were to arrive in the capital. Supporters of PTI had left for Islamabad today from Lahore, Multan, DG Khan, Peshawar and other cities to celebrate the ouster alongside Khan.
It should not mentioned here that the day Khan had announced to rally in Parade Ground, he said that he would lay out PTI s course-of-action in his address.
