KARACHI: Following their historic win in the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan cricketers were showered with rewards worth millions by different government and private companies, and the accolades, it seems. haven’t stopped yet.
A brand new BMW XI was handed over to captain Sarfraz Ahmed in a ceremony held Thursday in Karachi. The car was announced by JS Bank and Dewan Motors earlier in a special episode of Ramzan show Geo Khelo Pakistan.
Representatives of both the companies handed over the car’s keys to the aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman, who mentioned that he had always wanted to buy a BMW car.
“It was my desire to buy a BMW car; I am happy that I am now gifted one,” he told the media after the ceremony.
Sarfraz continued, “It is always good to be rewarded for your performance; it has boosted our confidence. I want to thank Geo Khelo Pakistan for inviting me to this show where JS Bank and Dewan Motors announced this car [as a gift] for me.”
Pakistan defeated India in the final to lift the ICC Champions Trophy title last month, leading the country’s Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, along with various other corporations and individuals, to shower players with numerous rewards.
“It is under Sarfraz’s brave and visionary leadership that led Pakistan to win its third major ICC tournament. He not only led from the front but inspired every single team member to raise their level to invincible heights,” Kashif Riaz – the Country Director of Operations at Dewan Motors – said.
JS Bank’s Kamran Jafar commented, “Sarfraz Ahmed is an exceptional cricketer and a tremendous inspiration for the whole nation. His leadership and performance throughout the Champions Trophy will last forever in my mind.”
Meanwhile, Sarfraz looked excited to receive the brand new car. After learning about the features of his bright white BMW, the skipper travelled back home in it.
