Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and other Hurriyat leaders have paid tributes to 22 Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives on July 13, 1931.
Syed Ali Gilani in his statement said the mission of the 1931 martyrs remains unfinished and the ongoing freedom struggle is a chain of the mission commenced in 1931. “So, the best way of paying tributes to the martyrs of 1931 is that we should continue our struggle till the goal of right to self-determination is achieved,†he said.
Muhammad Yasin Malik in his statement said that the present struggle was actually the continuation of the struggle started in 1931 and today’s oppression was similar to the oppression of that time. He said, “July 13 is one of the glorious days of our history when Kashmiris raised their voice against illegal occupation, oppressive rule and tyranny, endured bullets on their chests but refused to bow their heads before the forces of falsehood.â€
The JKLF Chairman said, “We remember the martyrs who demonstrated unparalleled courage and stood firm against tyranny and oppression, endured bullets on their chests but refused to bow before tyranny, illegal occupation and dictatorship.â€
President of Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in his statement said July 13, 1931 has the significance of marking the beginning of the ongoing freedom struggle. “On this day the Kashmiris for the first time raised their voice against the atrocities of Dogra rulers and 22 persons offered supreme sacrifices of their life. The ongoing freedom movement is the continuation of that struggle,†he added.
Hurriyat leaders, Farida Behanji and Muhammad Iqbal Mir, in their statements in Srinagar also paid tributes to the martyrs.
