London: The former prime minister of Azad Kashmir and president Tehrek-e-Insaf (Kashmir Chapter) Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chudhary has urged the British Parliamentary Kashmir Committee chairman Andrew Griffiths to use the APKC platform to expose internationally the atrocities being inflicted upon the people of occupied Kashmir by Indian forces.
Barrister Chudhary made these assertions while addressing a group of British Parliamentarians and members of the House of Lords here on Tuesday. The PTI president said that the besides highlighting the plight of Kashmiris the APKC must raise its voice against the Trump Administration’s lopsided decision under which President Trump had designated a Kashmiri leader as a “global terroristâ€. Expressing his astonishment over Trump Administration’s executive order Barrister said that Kashmiris were expecting that the US president would ask Indian premier Narendar Modi to stop blood bath of innocent civilians in occupied Kashmir. “Instead of asking Indian premier to stop killing of Kashmiris president Trump has extended his support to Modiâ€, he said adding that it should not have happened. He said that such kind of unjust and unwarranted moves would be tantamount to pour gasoline on the fire.
Terming Kashmiris as a peace-loving nation Barrister Chudhary said that it was UN that promised right to self-determination to Kashmiris through its historic resolutions. “The international community must differentiate between a legitimate freedom movement and terrorismâ€, he said adding that since India and Pakistan were two nuclear states any small or big incident can set off a full-fledged nuclear war between the two states that could jeopardize peace of the entire region.
Stressing the need for early resolution of Kashmir dispute he said that the prevailing political and human rights situation merits urgent attention of the international community.
