Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people attended multiple funeral prayers of Bashir Ahmed Wani in his ancestral Kokernag area of Islamabad district, today.
Bashir Wani along with his associate, Azad Ahmed Malik, was martyred by Indian troops during a violent siege and search operation in Dialgam area of the district, yesterday. He was buried amid emotionally-charged atmosphere at Soafshali in Kokernag, today.
People from Kokernag and adjoining areas walking on foot, riding motor bikes, trucks, cabs, cars and mini buses and raising pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans marched towards Soafshali village to participate in the funeral of the martyred youth.
Multiple funerals of Bashir Ahmed Wani were offered due to assembly of large number of mourners in the village.
The troops had also killed a woman Tahira and a youth Shadab during protests in Dialgam area of the district. Many were injured when locals tried to break the cordon laid by the troops in the area.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Democratic Freedom Party participated in the funeral prayers of Bashir Wani at Soaf-Shali in Kokernag area of South Kashmir. The delegation was led by Engineer Farooq Ahmad Khan. DFP Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah telephonically addressed the gathering and said that the sacrifices of martyrs would culminate in freedom from Indian bondage.
