Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan has congratulated the Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, Finance Minister Dr. Najeeb Naqi and his team for presenting the biggest ever historic tax-free and public-friendly budget for the financial year 2017-18.
The AJK president made these remarks while speaking at an Iftar dinner, which was hosted in honour of parliamentarians, journalists and city notables here at Aiwan-e-Sadr Muzaffarabad on Tuesday. Besides AJK premier Raja Farooq Haider Khan the Iftar dinner was attended by speaker legislative assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, senior minister Ch. Tariq Farooq, Finance Minister Dr. Najeeb, opposition leader Ch. Muhammad Yasin, former AJK premier and president of Muslim Conference Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, JI chief Ab. Rashid Turabi, Information Minister Mushatq Minhas and others.
Extending his felicitation to PM and his team for presenting a people-friendly budget with an outlay of 23 billion rupees, Khan expressed the optimism that the biggest ever development budget would usher the region into an era of progress and prosperity. He was of the view that it’s a great challenge for the AJK bureaucracy to spend budget wisely and honestly. â€œIf the budget was spent honestly and wisely then education institutions and roads of global standards will be constructed in Azad Kashmirâ€, he said adding that the prime minister had chalked out a comprehensive mechanism to promote education, hydropower generation, communication and tourism in the region.
So far as the progress and prosperity of the State is concerned Khan said that it was a shared responsibility of the government as well as the opposition to work together for regionâ€™s progress and prosperity. He said that the opposition parties must fully support the government regarding the development and progress of the region. He said that putting hurdles in the way of development was an act tantamount to anti-people.
Meanwhile, president Masood Ahmed Khan extended his heartfelt felicitations to Pakistani cricket team for winning the champions trophy by defeating the biggest arch rival India in the final match of the tournament. He said the Indiaâ€™s crushing defeat has triggered electrifying jubilation all across the occupied Kashmir. He said that Pakistani team would be accorded warm welcome in Azad Kashmir saying that a special function would be arranged in hounour of the wining team.
