Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) While voicing serious concern over the stepped-up human rights violations in the UN recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the AJK Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan have called upon the international community to redouble its efforts to resolve the lingering dispute to bring an end to the unending sufferings of Kashmiri people.
Both the leaders during a meeting on Tuesday night discussed in detail the prevailing situation in the region with special reference to the rising incidents of cross-LoC firing by Indian troops. Regarding the fresh spate of violence in Indian held Kashmir, they said that Indian occupation forces have wreaked havoc as death and destruction continued unabated in the region. They said that since the beginning of the holy month [Ramazan], the spate of targeted violence had further intensified in the region. Terming Indian state terrorism in IoK as an outrageous assault on humanity they said that barbarism has been let loose on Kashmiri people in the holy month of Ramzan.
They observed that it was quite alarming that innocent and unarmed youth were being arrested during search operations and nocturnal raids by occupation forces and later murdered in fake encounters. They urged the international community and world human rights bodies to play their much needed role to ensure protection of the basic human rights of Kashmiri people.
Terming unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control (LoC) as an act of cowardice they said that targeting civilian population was a manifestation of Indian army’s utter frustration. “In a bid to vent out their frustration, the frustrated and psychologically defeated Indian soldiers usually resort to Cross-LoC shellingâ€, they said adding that the continuous ceasefire violations and Indian aggression on the LoC can trigger nuclear war in the region.
The AJK President and the PM on the occasion discussed in detail the issues relating to the developmental budget of AJK. They agreed that priority shall be given on building better road infrastructure for better lives in all districts of Azad Kashmir. “Since the two-fold increase in the development budget it is now responsibility of the elected representatives as well as the bureaucracy to ensure better use of developments, quality work and timely execution and implementation of development projects going on in the regionâ€, they added.
Regarding the Gulf crisis they duo expressed the hope that the continued standoff would be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy keeping in view the larger interests of the Umah. They said that the Muslim states should resolve their differences through meaningful and result-oriented talks so that anti-Islam forces could not take advantage of the internal discord.
