Islamabad: (Parliament Times) On the occasion of World Orphan Day, the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan in their separate messages here on Saturday made a passionate appeal to Muslim Ummah to take special care of orphans.
Highlighting the problems that orphans face during war, invasion, natural disaster the AJK president said that all the world religions particularly the Islam have laid great emphasis on the rights of children. He said that in war torn countries like Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Afghanistan hundreds and thousands of children have become orphans. Khan said that it was quite unfortunate that every year thousands of children are orphaned. “Their parents either get killed in conflict zones, or they die of diseases or fell prey to poverty.
In his special message on the occasion of OIC’s universal day of Orphans being observed today, he said fasting teaches us to take extra care of the needs of downtrodden and underprivileged segments of the society. Terming care of orphan children as shared responsibility of Ummah the president said that it was our collective responsibility to provide orphan children all out support. He said that OIC has dedicated a special day for orphan children of the world
It may be recalled here that in Muslim world, the Orphans Day is being celebrated on fifteenth of Ramadan every year.
Meanwhile, in a separate message the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that sponsorship of orphans was prime responsibility of every citizen. He said that government would fully encourage those institutions, which take good care of orphan children. He was of the view that taking care of orphans and needy children and providing them opportunities of better education would not only help us achieve a respectable position among the comity of nations in this world but hereafter it would also become a source to have the accompany of beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The PM said that due to Indian aggression and unprovoked firing on the LoC thousands of Kashmiris were being orphaned every year in Indian held Kashmir and AJK. He said that world human rights bodies should take effective cognizance of the situation in the region.
The PM appreciated Kashmir Orphan Release Trust, Alkhidmat Foundation, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal and Almustafa Welfare Society and Eidi Foundation for carrying out welfare work in the region besides serving the humanity thereby providing basic help and assistance to the poor, needy and destitute.
