Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, having exhausted one after another tactics to suppress the ongoing Kashmir’s freedom struggle, India has now launched National Investigation Agency (NIA) to intimidate and harass Hurriyat leaders and activists by conducting raids on their houses and putting them to questions for hours.
In its latest drive, the NIA carried out raids on the houses of Hurriyat leaders at several locations in Kashmir and New Delhi.
NIA spokesman, Dr Alok Mittal in a statement confirmed that teams conducted searches in Srinagar. “There are chances of more raids in coming days,†he said.
The raids, NIA officials said, were carried out at the houses of Nayeem Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Meraj-ud-Din Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam and Farooq Ahmad Dar. The office of Nayeem Khan was also raided.
The raids continued for hours together and inmates were harassed. An NIA official said that raids were also carried out at eight places in Harayana and New Delhi.
About two dozen officials of NIA that included senior officers arrived in Kashmir on Friday.
