32000 illegal expatriates leave Saudi, 100,000 detained under govt campaign

JEDDAH: Saudi interior ministry has revealed that at least 32000 residency violators have left the country and 100,000 arrested after the government launched its “A Nation Without Illegal Expatriates” campaign on March 29.According to Arab News, the government has provided the expatriates with a 90-day amnesty period to leave Saudi without being awarded any penalty.Deputy supervisor of the campaign in Riyadh Col. Safar bin Dlaim has urged the illegal workers to benefit from the amnesty period before it ends.“Those [violators] who do not leave will be required to pay all fines and fees and will be considered a wanted person in the system. The goal of the campaign is for every resident to be legal.”Saudi government has also announced that those who respond to the campaign will be exempted from being registered as “deported,” which will allow them to come back to the Kingdom legally.
