Rawlakot: (Parliament Times) The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan has said that the incumbent government of Azad Kashmir was keen to promote quality education, besides ensuring sustainable development, progress and prosperity in the region.
The AJK president said this while addressing annual degree awarding ceremony at Banjosa Valley Public School here on Monday. The ceremony was attended by KEF chairman Zaffar Qadir, Zuhra Khan, Lieutenant Genreral ® Toufiq Rafiq, Brig. (retired) M Jameel Khan and others. Appreciating Kashmir Education Foundation (KEF) for imparting quality education in the region, he said that the basic objective of the foundation was to serve the poor and economically downtrodden people of the region thereby providing quality education to promising students and helping them shape up their lives in becoming successful citizens of the society. Khan also appreciated KEF for establishing splendid educational institution in the area, which he said was playing significant role in nation building.
Khan, who had also served as chairman of Kashmir Education Foundation, lauded the incumbent chairman of the foundation for extending its branches in other areas of the State. He also hailed KEF chairman Zafar Qadir’s offer of equipping at least two schools in each districts with latest facilities whereby students could get lessons from teachers through video link from Islamabad, Karachi and London simultaneously. Emphasizing on the importance of education the AJK president noted that the only difference between developed and backward countries of the world was education. He expressed the hope that the AJK would become harbingers of progress, prosperity and interfaith harmony
He said, “As a society it remains to be collective responsibility of all citizens including political leadership, civil society, teachers and students to work painstakingly for the progress and prosperity of the region besides lending all out support to Kashmiri brethren in getting freedom from Indian bondageâ€.
Khan said that Kashmiris as a nation were thankful of Pakistan for lending all out support to our just cause. “Despite daunting challenges Pakistan played pivotal role in projecting Kashmir cause at international level besides lending unflinching supporting to the people of Kashmirâ€, he said.
