Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has said that Indian forces have always inflicted atrocities on the people of territory and never treated them as humans.
The APHC said this in its reaction to Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s assertion that Indian Army saved lives during floods in the territory. It termed the assertion of Narendra Modi as a brazen lie.
“Indian army personnel during 2014 deluge rescued and airlifted families of the forces, tourists and some outsiders. They didn’t show any kind of sympathy for the local people and only dropped some expired biscuit packets for them at few places. Later they grabbed a hefty amount as service charges from local administration,†it said.
The APHC said that a misleading statement was issued at a time when Indian police and troops were thrashing the Kashmiri youth and using them as human shields. The video clips of these atrocities are uploaded on social media to create fear psychosis, it added.
The statement said that the forces’ personnel killed eight youth and injured hundreds on April 9 even when election drama was being staged in the occupied territory. Narendra Modi’s assertion is a deliberate attempt to cover up war crimes committed by Indian troops and police in the occupied territory, it pointed out.
The statement maintained that stone pelting was resentment against bullet and pellet policy. It said that the occupational forces created 1990s-like situation by inflicting pain on civilians in Kanelvan Bijbehara. It added that resorting to military might, assault and humiliating womenfolk were highly shameful acts.
The APHC said that the threat statements issued by BJP leaders were adding fuel to the fire and deteriorating the already volatile situation. It also expressed concern over intimidation of Hurriyet activist, Nisar Ahmad, saying that if anything untoward happened to him, the puppet authorities would be responsible.
