Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Azad Jammu and Kashmir President, Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has said China Pakistan Economic Corridor would accelerate socioeconomic activities in the region and beyond.
He was talking to a delegation of Karachi based Bohra Community investors which called on him here on Thursday. The President said that government is taking concrete steps to upgrade existing infrastructure in Azad Kashmir and added that 1450 kilometer new roads at a cost of twenty two billion rupees would be constructed in the area.
Sardar Masood Khan said 190 kilometer long tourism corridor would also be constructed in the area under China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said there is a huge potential of foreign and domestic investment in health, education, tourism related infrastructure development, mineral extraction sectors and developing industrial zones along CPEC route.
Terming Azad Jammu and most suitable place for investment, President said state provides an environment conducive to investment in terms of peace, law and order and extremely low rate of crimes like extortion. He said members of Bohra Community are honest, organized and civilized people and they can find similar qualities among the people of Azad Kashmir.
The president said government has sharp focus on development of tourism related infrastructure to attract the tourists both from within the country and outside and for this purposes all the existing roads are being improved and new roads of international standard are under construction. The Poonch region of the state is most suitable for horticulture and floriculture in terms of climate and soil texture. We need cooperation to preserve the cut flowers and marketing them. The President invited the members of Bohra Community to make business plans in collaboration with AJK government in the rewarding tourism, infrastructure development and pharmaceutical sectors.
Speaking on the occasion head of the delegation, Said-ud-Din Adeeb Bhai expressed his profound gratitude to President and AJK government for their hospitality and for inviting them to evaluate the environment for future investment. He also thanked president for providing an opportunity to interact with the members of local business community. Said-ud-Din Adeeb Bhai said that our elders and forefathers told us one must stay loyal to the land from where one earns bread and butter. He said his community has desire to invest on long term basis in Azad Kashmir to benefit from CPEC in the state. Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, Minister Social welfare, Muthrama Noreen Arif, Minister Finance Dr Najeeb Naqi and Additional Chief Secretary Development Syed Asif Hussain Shah were also present on the occasion.
