Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Sufficient potable water is being supplied to the capital city from the existing sources and no abnormal situation has been reported during this month. Repair and maintenance of tube wells as well as cleaning of filter beds have also been carried out. This was informed during a meeting held at Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters to review progress of water supply wing of the month of March. The meeting was chaired by Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz while attended by the Chief Officer, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Asad Mehbub Kiyani, Senior Officers of MCI / CDA.
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz said that all out efforts would be taken to ensure smooth water supply during the upcoming summer season. He said that all repair and maintenance work being carried out on different tube wells and water supply lines must be completed before summer season. He directed to carry out regular monitoring so that complaints of water theft could be eliminated and in this context, elected representatives will assist CDA Water Management Wing in their respective union councils.
On this occasion, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz was apprised that tube well No. 41, 63, 94 and 101 have been made operational after repair and maintenance as well as running defects found in tube well No.70, 254, 99, 253, 546, 101, 225, 137 and 117 were removed. The meeting was apprised that repair / maintenance work at G-10 water works i/c cleaning of filter beds has been carried out during the period. Chlorine Gas Cylinders replaced and proper chlorination ensured at RL-1 water works. Repair / maintenance work has been carried out at I-9 Bowzer Point, Shahdara, Noorpur and Korang Water Works complete cleanliness and maintenance has been carried out at old Simly Filtration Plant routine maintenance work has been carried out at 7MGR, Golf Course, G-8/1 Blocks and other installations. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA was apprised during the review meeting that where the less water is being experienced by any resident of the Capital City same be provided through tanker service on daily basis. The daily complaints received near about to 290 to 330 were attended through tankers fleet accordingly on daily basis and no complaint remained unattended during the period. The meeting was also apprised that about 30 leakages located in sector G-5, F-6, F-7, E-7 and F-8 has been attended during the month.
