Implementation of UNSC resolutions only viable solution to Kashmir dispute: Masood
Islamabad: (Parliament Times) AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan said implementation of United Nations’ Security Council is only fair viable solution of Kashmir entanglement.
In an interview to a foreign media, he said there is no need to float new formula settlement of Kashmir in presence of UN resolutions that provide fair, transparent and democratic solution of the issue. The president said most unfortunate aspect of Kashmir conflict is that India is seeking military solution of the problem and global community is criminally silent over what is happening in the territory under the illegal occupation of Kashmir.
He said bilateral talks with India is no more a viable way to settle Kashmir dispute as parlays between the two countries remained unproductive for last 70 years. Brushing aside the impression that people of Kashmir are militants, President Masood said they are victims of state sponsored terrorism and offering sacrifices of their lives to keep the resistance against foreign occupation alive.
Saying that people and government of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are extending political and diplomatic support to the people struggling for their right to self determination, he called upon international community and influential countries of the world to play their role in stopping genocide of Kashmiris and help grant them their democratic and birth right.
To a question, President said Muslim and Arab countries support Kashmiri people struggle for their right to self determination, which is evident from the unwavering support of OIC that represents 57 nations of the Muslim World. The OIC, he added not only passed resolution every year in support of Kashmiri people but also appointed a special representative on Kashmir. However he urged the Muslim countries to take up the Kashmir issue with India at bilateral level and exert pressure on India to stop atrocities on Kashmiri people. To another question, he said unresolved Kashmir issue could lead to a nuclear war between India and Pakistan that would be disastrous not only for this region but entire world.
Meanwhile AJK President Azad Jammu and Kashmir has expressed his grief and anguish and offered heartiest condolence on the loss of lives in the road accident on Trar Khal Azad Pattan Road. The president shared the pain of the bereaved families & condole passing away of young children. He prayed that those injured in the accident in may recover at the earliest. The president said that apparently over speeding was primary cause of the accident and directed the traffic police to take necessary measures to make public transport drivers to comply and follow the road safety rules. The President also directed for immediate compensation to the families of those lost their lives in the accident.
