Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) President All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has said Kashmir freedom movement will be negatively affected if Gilgit and Baltistan are declared as province of Pakistan. He said this while addressing the members of Muzaffarabad Press Club by telephone here on Wednesday. He said that change of status of Gilgit Baltistan would not only weakened Pakistan’s stand on Kashmir at International level but will also strengthen Indian position on Kashmir. He said that any attempt to cause harm to the freedom movement of Kashmir would be considered as treason and betrayal of the precious sacrifices rendered by over a half million martyred of Kashmir. Commenting on the recommendations of a committee headed by Sartaj Aziz to make Gillgit and Baltistan as fifth province of Pakistan, Sardar Attique said that change of the status of Gilgit Baltistan would be a serious violation of United Nations’ Security Council resolution on Kashmir. He said that neither India nor Pakistan has any authority to change the map of Kashmir which was existed under the rule of Mahraja Harising in 1947. He accused Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef of retreating from Kashmir issue and observing silence on Indian water aggression, brutalities of Indian forces and violation of ceasefire at LoC by Indian forces. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef is trying to change the status of Gilgat Baltistan, roll backing nuclear program of the country and cutting down the defence budget of the country this all indicate that federal government has decided to withdraw from Kashmir issue. Sardar Attique said that his party has clear stance that if Nawaz Sharif can not help Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom he has no right to compromise on Kashmir issue or make any deal on Kashmir issue without consent of the Kashmir people.
