    UAE will count on technologies to keep terror threats at bay

    ABU DHABI: UAE State Minister for Defence Mohammed Al Bawardi warned that extra precaution must be taken by the international militaries for their respective defence industries because in case if it is penetrated by terrorists it will yield catastrophic results globally.

    Speaking at the IDEX Conference 2017 commenced on Saturday at the National Archives headquarters in Abu Dhabi, he reiterated that militaries must employ skillful professionals in the defence industry,

    “Military institutions must employ skillful professionals to create the highest levels of competitive advantage,” he said. “Otherwise, if it gets in the hands of terrorists or enemies, it can yield results of catastrophic proportions.”

    The conference ‘Disruptive Innovation in Defence and Security’ attracted national and international defence policy makers and experts engaging in a lively debate over the most pressing topics in the industry.

    Speaking on the significance of state-of-the-art technology in the defence arena, Mohammed Al Bawardi said that the UAE would count on emerging technologies and developing human capital to keep the terror threats at bay.

    The IDEX conference has been growing hub for specialists to discuss security and defence challenges facing the region and the world. It is part of the 13th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2017) and the 4th edition of the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX 2017) that will start on Sunday.

    Over 55 countries including Pakistan is participating in the exhibition. The Pakistani delegation led by Minister for Defense Production Rana Tanveer Hussain will attend the exhibition. While, Pakistan has set a pavilion at the exhibition where various defense products produced in the country are being exhibited.

    The IDEX conference shed light on the complex and increasingly critical new technologies, the shifting cyber-security landscape, focusing on lessons learned from industry, military and security communities.
