    MUST improves its ranking by attaining 86.47 percent score

    MIRPUR: (Parliament Times) The state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST), has clinched the top ‘W’ ranking securing 86.47 per cent marks assessed and determined by Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the regulatory authority monitoring the academic activities of the varsities in the country including AJK, official sources said.
    In a recent letter addressed to Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman – Sitara –e-Imtiaz, Vice Chancellor of the MUST, the Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education (HEC) informed as saying “ the progress of implementation of IQA Mechanism of the esteemed varsity – MUST was assessed on already defined parameters that obtained 86.47 per cent score.
    “It is appreciated that under your dhyamic leadership, the progress of Ontrnal Quality Assurance (IQA) Mechanism at your DAI is accelerating in a well-organized manner. It is expected that the progress will further enhance in coming future”, the letter opined.
    It may be added that the Quality Assurance Agency, Higher Education Commission got the mandate to enhance the quality of education of all Degree Awarding Institutions (DAIs) through Internal and External Quality Assurance Mechanism. In this connection, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Mechanism is implemented in all DAIs which is assessed on annual basis by QAA, HEC, through score card system.
    Meanwhile addressing mammoth gathering of students and the faculty members of the MUST besides senior officials of the AJK government on the eve of the visit of the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan to the MUST campus here yesterday, Vice Chancellor of the MUST Prof. Dr. Habib u Rehman – Sitara –e-Imtiaz, unveiled the recently-granted top ‘W’ rating status with 86.47 per cent score this year to the MUST by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan under the recently-conducted ‘Quantitative Assessment of Internal Quality Assurance Mechanism’ set by the HEC.
    Dr. Habib ur Rehman highlighted the exceptional laurels achieved by the MUST varsity in a short span of last three years for the delivery of the quality higher education in line with the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
    Highlighting the curricular and co-curricular activities of his varsity through the dispensation of quality education of science & Technology including in seven graduate and post graduate disciplines of engineering in line with the needs of the modern age, Dr. Rehman disclosed that Rs. 350 million budget of the MUST three years ago was raised to Rs. One billion because of vanishing of all previous ill-deeds and addressing of all issues which had thrown the varsity to below 50 percent score three years ago.
    Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that all business of higher education in the university has been institutionalized to meet the stipulated criteria of the HEC. He disclosed that the varsity has launched various products of the varsity for fund raising through private public partnership. He also referred to the issuance of computerized driving licenses of international standard in Mirpur division with the coordination of Mirpur police.
    The VC said that following the reforms and speedy uplift of the education system the varsity was successfully satisfying all the stake holders in the absolute peaceful academic environment.
    Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman appreciated the sitting government’s policy of introducing the NTS system in the education department at the first step. He expressed the hope that the NTS system would lead to improve the quality of education in the public-sector educational institutions in AJK.
