Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and other Hurriyet leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi have warned that India has devised a plan to further massacre the unarmed common civilians of the territory.

The Hurriyet leaders were reacting to the recent statement of Indian Army Chief, Bipin Rawat, wherein he said that protesters in the territory will be dealt with strictly, taking them as over-ground workers of mujahideen.

The Hurriyet leaders in their separate statements in Srinagar said that India was pursuing this policy of genocide since 1947 and the whole population of Jammu and Kashmir was resisting it. They said that threats, intimidations and oppressive measures could neither suppress the resolve of Kashmiri people in the past nor would be able to do so in the future as they were determined to break the shackles of illegal occupation. They said that Indian Army chief by issuing these kinds of statements had shown his anti-human attitude and lack of political wisdom. They said, Bipin Rawat’s assertion may add to the miseries of Kashmiris but it would also push many youth to the wall and drive them towards violent means to continue their struggle.

Hurriyet leaders, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir and Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory in their statements also condemned the Indian Army chief for issuing threat to the entire population of occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown, marked by anti-India demonstrations, was observed in Pulwama town, today, against the arrests of youth. Total shutdown was also observed in Karalgund and Langate areas of Handwara to mourn the killing of three youth who were martyred by Indian troops in Karalgund on Tuesday. Hundreds of members of the High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir staged a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the Indian brutalities in the territory. Speaking on the occasion, the Bar Association President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, said that the people of Kashmir were fighting for resolution of the Kashmir dispute for the last more than 70 years and they wanted implementation of the UN resolutions that promised of giving them their right to self-determination.

On the other hand, Resistance Day will be observed in the occupied territory, tomorrow, against the surge in killing of innocent youth by Indian troops. Call for the observance of the day has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leaders have also called for peaceful anti-India demonstrations throughout the Valley after Friday prayers.

APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum, Advocate Devinder Singh, addressing a public gathering at Mira Sahib in Jammu appealed to the international community to put pressure on India to resume talks with Pakistan and also involve the true representatives of Kashmiri people with the dialogue process to settle the Kashmir dispute.
