Islamabad: (Parliament Times) AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has said AJK and Gilgit Baltistan will be connected through a land link by constructing a tunnel at Shunter Nullah under China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project. In a TV interview on Wednesday, President said after construction of a Astore- Neelum Valley Road, the distance between AJK and Gilgit Baltistan will reduce to 8 hours. He said AJK government is planning to construct 1450 kilometers new roads and extension of airports at Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot to make them operationalize. Similarly Muzaffarabad and Islamabad will be linked with each other through a railway track.
About the hydropower generation potential, president said projects with 8700 MW power generation capacity had already been approved in AJK while our own need is only 400 MW. However, he said AJK’s energy need could increase up to fifteen hundred to two thousands megawatt after new industries in Bhimber, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot. The president said funds have been allocated for construction of Mansehra, Muzaffarabad- Mirpur Motorway. He added that Forward Kahutta and Poonch will connected through Haveli Express way while other districts will also be connected with Motorway by constructing new roads.
Sardar Masood Khan further said that future of AJK is very bright as the coming period will witness an influx of direct and indirect investments to the state. The kashmiris settled in different parts of the world will have golden opportunities to invest their money in profitable sectors, he added.The president there are five universities, three medical colleges and dozens of Post graduate colleges besides some quality educational institutions in private sector. We need now to improve their standard and quality of education and we are seeking services of national and international experts and educationinsts to help achieve the objective.
Commenting on situation in Kashmir, President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan says India should stop its atrocities in held Kashmir and come to dialogue table to resolve the lingering issue. He said Pakistan has successfully raised the Kashmir on the international fora along with Indian human rights violations and the global community responsible to put pressure on India to provide right to self-determination to Kashmiris. He said the Kashmiri also desirous peaceful resolution of the issue and acknowledged Pakistan for its efforts in this regard.
He said that Pakistan is not afraid of Indian aggression on Line of Control and will play its due role to ensure peace in the region. The president said that India is facing isolation in the region due to world appreciation to China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said that Pakistan wants to complete the mega project because it will link three continents of Africa, Asia and Europe but India opposes to stop the regional development.
