KARACHI : At least six people were killed while 25 others sustained severe wounds as speeding bus collided with Sassi Toll Plaza at National Highway today (Tuesday).
According to details, a passenger bus en route to Thatta from Karachi rammed into toll plaza while overtaking an oil tanker. The mishap left six dead and 25 injured.
The wounded were shifted to Jinnah Hospital whereas the corpses were transferred to morgue.
Getting information about the accident, police officers arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the matter. They said that the mishap took place due to dilapidated condition of the bus.
Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.
Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
