Muzaffarabad:(Parliament Times) Â On the 23rd martyrdom anniversary of renowned freedom-fighter and commander, Abdul Khaliq Ganai alias Jamal Afghani, glowing tributes were paid to him by the people in occupied Kashmir and Muzaffarabad (AJK).
In Muzaffarabad, a function to commemorate his martyrdom anniversary was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL) in which speakers threw light on the life and struggle of the great patriot of Kashmir who began his political struggle for freedom of Kashmir in 1970s as a student and attained martyrdom during the prime of his youth.
On the occasion, the JKPFL Chairman, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League eulogized Jamal Afghani’s services for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir and said that he was among the pioneers of the struggle of 1990s, and as a political activist he had been making his valuable contribution since 1970s.
He said that the struggle of the pioneers of the movement for freedom should serve as a beacon light to the present and future generations of the Kashmiris. No Kashmiri will ever forget the sacrifices of the martyrs, he assured the audience. He said that the post-Burhan martyrdom movement added a new phase to the freedom struggle of the people and was definitely an unforgettable and unparalleled chapter of the history of Kashmir.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani hailed the great struggle of the people during the last 6 months and said that the valiant people of Kashmir had carved out their place in history by facing the state terrorism of India in many ugly forms and manifestations especially, blinding of peaceful protesters by pellet firing. He said, “No power on earth can suppress voice of freedom and India must know it before it’s too late.†He called upon the world community to take cognizance of brutal methods of suppressing the Kashmiris by India, reminding it of blinding civilians by pellet-firing during ongoing Intifada. He said that India had surpassed all cruelties and crimes against the peaceful people of Kashmir in 2016 and had actually sealed every door of peaceful talks with Pakistan and Kashmiris for resolution of the lingering standing dispute.
The JKPFL Chairman said the UN should come forward and interfere as being call of the hour, without which no real and durable peace and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute was in sight because the Modi-led anti-Muslim regime was aggressive and fanatic. He said that India neither believed in any honourable dialogue nor in a just honourable resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Others who spoke on occasion were Khaki Nasrullah, Altaf Izra, Muhammad Amin, Zahid Ahmad and Arshad Ahmad.
In Srinagar and Bandipora programmes were held and rich tributes were paid to Jamal Afghani and other Kashmiri martyrs. The JKPFL General Secretary, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, paid glowing tributes to Jamal Afghani and Basit Dar a B.Tech student who was martyred by Indian troops yesterday and said that the ongoing freedom struggle would continue till complete success.
