AMRITSAR:  A two-day Heart of Asia Conference has begun in Amritsar today (Saturday) to peace, cooperation and economic development in Afghanistan, Media reported.
Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz is representing Pakistan at the Ministerial conference on Sunday which will be jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan is attending the Heart of Asia Conference due to its commitment to Afghanistan s peace and stability.
Today, senior officials of all 14 countries, including India, China, Russia, Iran and representatives of 17 supporting nations were deliberating on a vast range of issues facing the region including its complex security scenario and dealing with threat of terrorism, radicalisation and extremism.
The meeting is likely to cover all the necessary technical aspects of the declaration for the Ministerial Conference.
The 6th Ministerial Conference will be held tomorrow. This conference will endorse the 6th Ministerial Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Declaration and provide a new direction for the year 2017.
