Academy Award-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy stopped by Geo Pakistan studios Friday where she shared her high hopes for the upcoming sequel to blockbuster 3-D animated film ‘Teen Bahadur’.

‘Teen Bahadur 2 – The Revenge of Baba Balaam’ is set to hit the theatres later this month, and Sharmeen already has her eyes set on a third Oscar.

“But this time, the Oscar will be for an animated film, not a documentary,” she smiles with a determined look in her eyes.

Sharmeen has two Academy Awards to her name – one for her documentary ‘Saving Face’ (2012) and another for the biographical ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’ (2016). She has also won the Emmy Awards multiple times, along with many other accolades.

When asked about the secret to her success, Sharmeen said it was the fact that she has always stayed true to her passion.

“All the films I have made focused on topics that are close to my heart, and that’s how I’ve come this far,” she said.

She added that young inspiring filmmakers can adopt this ‘formula’ as well to succeed.

The renowned filmmaker has high hopes attached to her ‘Teen Bahadur’ sequel, which she has directed and produced. She said she made these films for children because nobody else is focusing on entertainment for children and she is trying to fill that void.

She had a message for the Pakistani audience. “Support the Pakistani cinema, please go out and watch Pakistani movies, we need your support!” she said, adding that she expects a massive crowd for the ‘Teen Bahadur 2’ which is set to release alongside ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ later in December.
