Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that India is escalating tension on the Line of Control to divert world attention from the brutalities of its forces and the ongoing uprising in the territory. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the recent Indian shelling on the LoC. He said that the skirmishes between armed men on the LoC were not surprising but targeting of the common people, passenger buses and ambulances carrying the injured by the Indian forces was the most cowardly act. The APHC Chairman warned that confrontation between India and Pakistan would prove devastating for the whole world. He pointed out that the risk of war between the two nuclear powers would remain unless the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Meanwhile, the puppet authorities did not allow Syed Ali Gilani and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, to hold a meeting at Hyderpora in Srinagar, today, to discuss the prevailing situation of the occupied territory. While the authorities kept Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, Indian police sent Muhammad Yasin Malik back from outside the residence of Syed Ali Gilani. Hurriyet leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Farida Bahenji and the Chairman of Ummat-e-Islami, Qazi Yasir, in their addresses to public meetings and statements expressed serious concern over the tension on the LoC between Pakistan and India. They called for settling the Kashmir dispute for ensuring durable peace in South Asia.Sikh Hurriyet leader, Advocate Devinder Singh, addressing a gathering in Poonch demanded release of all illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists languishing in different jails, police stations and interrogation centres. On the other hand, two Indian troops were injured when unknown gunmen attacked a convoy of Border Security Force in Wadipora area of Handwara, today.
