Fire at Kemari oil terminal claims two lives in Karachi

KARACHI, (Parliament Times): At least two people were killed , as a fire broke out at an oil tank filled with 1000-tonnes of fuel on Saturday at the Kemari Oil Terminal. Eight fire engines of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) are dousing the fire, fire brigade officials said. Foam and chemical is being used to extinguish the fire, officials added. The fire broke out at Pakistan State Oil depot, KPT fire chief said.

A Geo News reporter said the fire has been caused due to Methanol chemical and such fires are invisible to the human eye. At least 25 people were killed and 58 injured when an oil tanker at Gadani Ship-breaking yard caught fire on November 1. It took four days to extinguish the deadly fire.
