GWADAR: The first trade caravan carrying Chinese goods reached Gwadar through the western-route of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The caravan comprised of 50 trucks travelled through Khunjerab amid strict security by the Pakistan Army.
The Chinese goods will be exported to different countries through Gwadar port.
The caravan left China on 31 October and reached Gwadar in 11 days which otherwise would have taken 45 days.
A ceremony marking the opening of trade activities through the corridor will be held on Sunday, which will attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and ambassadors of 15 countries
CPEC is a collection of projects currently under construction at a cost of $51 billion. The major portion will be spent for enhancing energy capacity of the country and almost $12 billion on infrastructure related projects.
CPEC related construction work has been expedited after ships carrying construction material arrived in Gwadar at the end of October.
