Rawlalpindi: The Food Branch officials of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board on Tuesday visited different areas of the city and took effective notice of the lack of proper cleanliness at various food points.
Qaisar Mehmood, a spokesman of the Cant Board said that during their visit to Naseerabad, Allaabad, Range Road and Sadar areas the Food Branch officials have issued notices to the owners of food points for substandard cleanliness and working without licenses. Mehmood said that 25 food points were checked out of which 18 food points were issued notices for substandard cleanliness at work places and for operating without licenses. He said that show cause notices were issued to the owners whereas sample of 12 edible items have been taken and sent to the laboratory for tests.
Mehmood said that the Food Branch officials were carrying out operations on daily basis to ensure food safety and hygiene during food processing.
Meanwhile, during its anti-Encroachment Drive the Cantonment Board officials have ceased five trucks of different items from vendors who had setup their stalls illegally on roads in different markets of Sadar, Misriyal Road, Tench Bata and surrounding areas of the city.
