ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) March 8 marks the International Women’s Day, which celebrates the achievements of women in all spheres of life. On this occasion, Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi organized an event on International Women Day. The event started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Dr Sarwat Rasool welcomed the audience and gave a brief introduction of the history and Importance of International Women’s Day and welcomes the chief guest Fatima Jinnah Women University Vicechancellor DrProfessor Samina Amin Qadir and other guests Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Naheed Zia Khan,Dr Aayesha Rafiqand Ms Humaira Zulfiqar.
Fatima Jinnah Women University Vice Chancellor Dr professor Samina Amin Qadir said Inher address that as a pioneer female higher education institution in Pakistan, believes that true liberation comes with socio-economic emancipation. She further said that today on this National Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to women’s rights, the inherent dignity and the equal rights of men and women. Let us stand together and assist each other in achieving our goal of better life for all.
Dean Dr Naheed Zia Khan also express her views in this occasion, she said that Women are not weak they are strong. opportunities should be provided for women not only inside the house but also in professional level.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Sarwat Rasool said that this is a day for commemoration of women achievements and celebration of their extraordinary potentials. It is a time to reflect on the barriers that still remain there and how they can be overcome.There are many issues which are faced by Pakistani women that can be eradicated by educating women and giving them opportunities to participate in mainstream economy of the country. She urged that women are the active agents of change and without their participation in mainstream no country can become prosperous.
While appreciating the women Ms Humaira Zulfiqar said that today women are playing great role in every profession. She also said that we should remove the difference of Man and women in professional life and should appreciate them in every walk of life.
