SRINAGAR: (Parliament Times) Senior APHC leader and chairman of Islamic Political Party – JK Mohammad Yousuf Naqash has expressed deep concern over the unabated killings, arrests, and reign of oppression unleashed across valley by “barbaric†occupational forces.
Naqash in a press release has strongly condemned the targeting of educational institutions and beating of students and teachers without showing any respect and regard for them.
“This is a war against the people of Kashmir. In the garb of maintaining law and order and the unbridled powers, the brutal forces are playing with the lives of people. Now, the protests by students, should serve as an eye opener for New Delhi and its policy makers who should revisit their approach on Kashmir,†he said.
Naqash said students are the future and asset of the nation and are tasked with more responsibilities to lead the nation. He said student community has proved that they are the frontrunners of the ongoing freedom struggle.
He said the ruling class is so drenched in its lust for power that it has made it a routine to use force on people to suppress each and kind of dissent. He termed it unfortunate that local police is proving itself more loyal than the king and has become habitual of beating and suppressing people and now even students and teachers.
“A reign of terror has been created in every nook and corner of the valley and people are feeling suffocating in this atmosphere where bullets and pellets are doing rounds,†he said.
The Hurriyat leader expressed condolence and solidarity with the families of all those martyred recently and reiterated that the blood of martyrs won’t be allowed go waste.
He said that to dream of peace in the subcontinent without resolving Kashmir is ridiculous. “The world community must mediate in Kashmir and stress upon India to resolve the issue otherwise, the threat of war will continue to loom over not only the subcontinent but the entire South Asian region,†he said.
Naqash asked New Delhi and local administration to act with wisdom and accept the ground reality of Kashmir and resolve the longstanding dispute at the earliest so that the region comes out from this mayhem of death, destruction and bloodshed.
