Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, normal life remained affected in the Valley for the 131st consecutive day, today, due to the strike against illegal Indian occupation and the ongoing Indian brutalities in the territory.Shops, fuel stations and other business establishments were shut, while traffic was off the road in Srinagar and other districts of the Valley. Schools, colleges and universities also remained closed. The joint Hurriyet leadership had called for anti-India strike, today.The All Parties Hurriyet Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the recent killing of a 21-year old youth Rizwan and shelling on his funeral procession by Indian forces. It said that Indian forces recognized as the beasts and rogues in uniform were killing Kashmiris by bullets and pellets and even crushing them to death with their vehicles.Senior APHC leader Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement in Srinagar criticized RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s assertions that India is a Hindu Rashtra, and added that these remarks had utterly exposed the fictitious character of so-called secular India. Dukhtaran-e-Millat in a statement while referring to Indian brutalities in Kashmir said that the murderer and the murdered and the oppressor and the oppressed were like the two shores of a river which can never unite.Hurriyet leaders Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Qazi Yasir in their statements demanded shifting of illegally detained prisoners from Jammu to the Valley. Qazi Yasir warned authorities of serious repercussions against deteriorating health of the illegally-detained party leader Moulana Sarjan Barkati. Meanwhile, an Indian police man was killed in an attack at Marwal Zaloora in Baramulla district. The slain policeman belonged to Special Operation Group of the Indian police.The Secretary General of World Kashmir Awareness, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in an article said that a bloody summer of protest in Kashmir had been met with a ruthless response from Indian armed forces, who fired hundreds of thousands of metal pellets into crowds of civilians, leaving hundreds blinded. The settlement of Kashmir dispute, he added, would lead to peace in the region. On the other hand, Indian essayist and novelist Pankaj Mishra in an essay in The
New York Times wrote that Indian forces had conducted a brutal campaign in Kashmir in which over hundred people had been killed and thousands injured since July, this year.
