Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan has urged the international community and the Muslim nations to adopt a unified stance to seek an early settlement of the unsettled and long-pending issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
The AJK president made these remarks while talking to Dr. Khalid Mahmood Palestinian peace activist and researcher who called on him at the President House in Islamabad on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion Masood Khan said, “Kashmir and Palestine are a similar cause where the people are struggling for their right to self determination against occupying forcesâ€.
He stated that the peaceful struggle of the innocent people of Kashmir and Palestine has been subdued by coercive measures which are in absolute contradiction of the basic principles of human rights and dignity.
Dr Khalid said that it was unfortunate that the Muslim population in both Palestine and Kashmir were being persecuted without any rationale. “Their lives are in constant threat and a siege like situation has been created in both these areasâ€, he added,
Dr. Khalid informed the AJK president that through a planned strategy Israel is changing the demography of Palestinian lands and is eliminating all cultural and historical references in order to alienate the Palestinians within the homeland.
“Israel being a major arms dealing country is a threat to global peace and security. It has nefariously maneuvered the international powers especially US into legitimizing their every move in forcefully occupying the sacred land of Jerusalemâ€, he said.
Dr. Khalid also said that the people of Palestine stand hand in hand with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle and will support their cause wholeheartedly.
