Muzaffarabad: AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said opposition has blackened its face by boycotting the joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly and Jammu and Kashmir Council on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Addressing a crowded news conference at Prime Minister Secretariat on Monday he said the joint session of the AJK Assembly and the Council was summoned to demonstrate solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir suffering inhuman atrocities at the hands of the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.
He said that opposition during the joint session demanded development funds and later boycotted the session to put pressure on the government. The prime Minister said opposition members’ attitude suggests that they are quite unable to understand the importance of the national issues, and they preferred personal interests on the national cause of Kashmir.
Saying that opposition’s absence from the house on Solidarity Day sent a negative message to other side of Line of Control, Prime Minister urged the opposition to keep the political differences aside from the Kashmir cause.
Raja Farooq Haider Khan said opposition’s decision to stay away from the joint sitting at a time when people of occupied Kashmir are writing a history with their sacred blood is not only highly unfortunate but also reflect their mental bankruptcy. Our party (PML-N) always supported the government on all issues of national importance when it was despite being dubbed as friendly opposition and did not become part of the attempts to derail the system in Azad Kashmir. Minister Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan expressed his profound gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan and national media for expressing their unwavering support to the struggling people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Commenting on Kashmir situation, he said that India is hatching conspiracies against Pakistan in order to divert attention of the world from Kashmir issue. He said the struggle of people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination cannot be suppressed through use of brute force by Indian forces. Responding to a question regarding AJK development, he said good governance and implementation of the merit policy are the top priorities of his government.
