Lahore: A contempt of court petition has been filed in Lahore High Court (LHC) against Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Secretary Punjab and home Secretary Punjab for not providing Model Town massacre inquiry report despite court orders.
A petitioner Asif Iqbal along with family members of the victims has filed a petition through Azhar Siddique Advocate in Lahore High Court while taking the plea that high court single member bench has ordered to publicize Model town inquiry commission report of Justice Baqir Ali Najfi forthwith.
Petitioner further stated that after the court orders family members of the victims approached respective forums to receive inquiry report but they had not been provided with Justice Ali Baqir Najfi report which is clearly a contempt of court as per article 204 of the constitution.
It was also stated in the petition that Chief Secretary Punjab and Home Secretary Punjab are working under CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif therefore report is not being provided on pressure of CM.
The petitioner prayed that contempt of court proceedings should be initiated against CM Punjab, home secretary and Chief Secretary.
