Srinagar : In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that lasting peace, stability and economic development would elude South Asia until the Kashmir dispute is resolved in line with the political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, while addressing members of Japanese media in Tokyo through a video conference from Srinagar appealed to Japan and the international community to come forward and help stop the grave human rights violations perpetuated by the Indian forces in Kashmir. The event was organised by Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora at Tokyo Press Club in Japan. The Mirwaiz said that Kashmir continued to be the world’s highest militarized zone with the presence of over 700,000 Indian troops.
On the other hand, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has issued fresh protest calendar from March 1 to 15. Under the protest calendar, the High Court Bar Association of Kashmir would hold peaceful protests on Wednesday against the non-implementation of the court orders, while Resistance Day would be observed on Friday against the killings of innocent youth. Peaceful protests would be held throughout the valley after the Friday prayers.
A forceful anti-India protest demonstration was held at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, today. The protest, which was led by joint resistance leaders including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shaukat Bakhshi and Imtiaz Haider condemned the Indian conspiracies against the ongoing freedom struggle and Hurriyet leaders and activists.
While reacting to the reports about India’s plot to control media, mosques and madrasas in Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders in their statements said that the plan was aimed at dividing the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir on sectarian, linguistic and ethnic lines. The leaders condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori.

The cavalcade of puppet minister, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, came under attack at Ratnipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, today. Angry protesters pelted stones on the cavalcade of Minister for Forest and Animal Husbandry, when he was passing through the area. Personnel of Central Reserve Police Force and the police of the occupied territory resorted to heavy teargas shelling and aerial firing to disperse the protesters.
