Lahore: World renowned artist, social crusader and peace activist Jimmy Engineer is all set to add another feather in his already much heavy cap by becoming first Pakistani artist to display his creative art in Beijing, China, from March 22 (Wednesday).
On display in his yet another solo international exhibition, which is scheduled to continue for a week till March 29, will be 18 pencil sketches of old Chinese icons from different fields. The exhibition is being held at Zhengyangmen Administration Museum in Beijing where he has already reached.
18 pencil sketches of old icons of China from different fields and prints of 100 selected paintings have been put on display in the art show. .Pencil sketches are of old leaders, actors, sportsmen, businessmen and other known figures of China in the size of 22 inches x 30 inches.
More importantly, a selected painting of Jimmy Engineer titled “International Architectural Composition†will be put on permanent display at the National Art Museum of China.The paintings has been done in oil on canvas and its size is 3×6 feet. He is the first Pakistani artist whose paintings is going to be on permanent display in the prestigious museum of China.
Chinese Consul General of China in Karachi sometime back had approached Jimmy Engineer and requested him to donate one of his master paintings for permanent display at the National Art Museum of China. Accepting the request, Jimmy had shown his art work out of which one was selected .
Jimmy Engineer will present his selected painting to the museum officials along with Pakistan Ambassador in China Khalid Masood who has been quite instrumental in arranging Pakistani artist’s solo art exhibition.
Prior to his departure for Beijing, Jimmy Engineer said in an interview that he is paying a goodwill visit to China .He said he had paid his first-ever visit to China in October 2016, delivered talks at Tsinghua University in Beijing and China World Peace Foundation had presented him a medal through its Chairman Mr Li Ruo Hong and he will be presenting his selected painting to the Chinese museum to express his heartfelt gratitude to the people and the government of China as well as the World Peace Foundation for conferring this honour on him.
He expressed the hope his art work will be appreciated by the people of China in general and the artists and art lovers in particular.. He said he had selected 18 Chinese personalities who had excelled in their respective fields and earned good name for their country for making their pencil sketches which carry their names also on the bottom of each drawing. He said further “ It is matter of pride for myself as well as the entire country that my art work is going to be display at the famous art museum of China. This is the first time that art work of any Pakistani artist is going to be put on permanent display in China’s premier museum.â€
