IATF insists for LEAs’ capacity building to control smuggling

Rawalpindi: Intra Agency Task Force (IATF) comprising upon Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for elimination of narcotics from the country asserted upon capacity building, dealing with legal issues, technical expertise and exchange of secret information among the institutes.
Meeting of IATF held here on Tuesday in the Headquarter of ANF (Anti Narcotics Force) which was presided over by the Chairman IATF and DG ANF, Major General Musarrat Nawaz Malik unanimously agreed to join hands in order to get rid from pest of all kind of narcotics and to increase cooperation among the institutes gathered under the single roof i.e. IATF.
IATF said that curse of drugs is damaging social roots of the country and cooperation among all the institutes to curb the menace is vital.
The meeting was convened to seek out solutions of challenges, augment efforts against smuggling and to take concrete steps for elimination of narcotics smuggling by all means.
The meeting reviewed previous years’ progress of LEAs for smuggling control and asked all the departments to submit their suggestions regarding their capacity building.
The meeting has been informed that overall 50449 cases have been filed in 2017arresting 52457drug paddlers and recovered 325.23 tons of narcotics.
The meeting was attended by FBR (Federal Board of Revenue), Pakistan Coast Guards, FIA, FATA Secretariat, Punjab Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC) Khyber Pakhtunkhaw (KP), Sindh Rangers, FC Baluchistan, Islamabad Police, National Highways & Motorways Police (NH& MP), Pakistan Railways Police, Punjab police, Sindh police, KP police, Baluchistan police, GB Police, Excise & Taxation (E&T) GB, E& T Azad Jammu & Kashmir, E&T Sindh, E&T Baluchistan, Commissionaire Afghan refugees in KP, Malakand Levies, NLC and representatives of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
