Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The leader of the opposition in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chudhary Muhammad Yasin has criticized the incumbent government for not allocating enough funds to health, education sector.
The PPP leader while participating in the budget debate here on Saturday said that there was no substantial increase in the salaries of government employees. He suggested that there should have been at least 50 percent in salaries of government employees.
Chudhary was of the view that more funds should have been allocated for the freedom movement of Kashmir. He also demanded that the government should announce a special package for Cross-LoC firing affectees. He said that people of Kotli district have suffered the most due to Indian shelling on the LoC. He said that special funds should be allocated for the injured people who were under treatment at various hospitals in Kotli. The PPP leaders said that in view of the highly volatile situation on the LoC there was a dire need of constructing RCC bunkers for the people living in the forward areas.
Terming Act 1974 as PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s gift for the people of Azad Kashmir he said, “We should give a value to itâ€. He, however, maintained that a joint mechanism should be evolved to seek an amendment in the Act. “In this context the government must take appropriate steps to seek approval from the federal governmentâ€, he said.
Chudhary said that there was a need to increase the number of police force to combat terrorism effectively. Urging the government to focus on Hydro Power generation Chudhary said that lending top priority to Hydel Power Potential in the region would lead us to self-sufficiency
He said that opposition parties had assured the leader of the House that whatever positive steps government takes the opposition benches would lend him their all out support. He said that in presence of the PML-N government in the center there should be problem as far as the issue of funds were concerned. Regarding the issues of vital national interests the opposition leader said that the government must take on board the opposition parties.
